Dear Friends,

Please find our Annual Activities Report 2022 on this link.

We are proud to announce that last July, our Founder and President Pasquale Pistorio was invited to the Polytechnic of Turin to receive from IEEE an Honorary Award as "The rebuilder of the European Semiconductor industry, able to combine profit and environmental/social sustainability."

Pasquale Pistorio graduated in 1963 in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin with a degree in electronics. In 1967 he joined Motorola in Italy, rising through the ranks to become director of international marketing, based in Phoenix, Arizona. He was then appointed vice president of Motorola Corporation and general manager of Motorola’s International Semiconductor Division. In July 1980, he returned to Italy as president and CEO of SGS Group, the only Italian microelectronics company. In 1987, he oversaw the successful integration of SGS with the French Thomson Semiconducteurs, founding STMicroelectronics. He retired from STM in 2005 and was subsequently appointed to the position of Honorary Chairman. Throughout his career, Pasquale championed Corporate Social Responsibility, embodied in the strong ethical corporate culture of the company; in the encouragement of engagement of employees in local charitable activities; in the creation of STFoundation in 2001 to contribute in bridging the Digital Divide which today counts 1 million trainees worldwide; and in pioneering aggressive environmental programs and net zero carbon emissions objective company-wide since 1993, decades before sustainability was fashionable, earning countless awards from prestigious organizations such as the EPA.

Pasquale created the Pistorio Foundation upon retirement in 2005 to fulfill his lifelong personal wish to give back to society and be personally involved in the selection and overseeing of charitable projects benefiting children in need. Pasquale has been recognized for his philanthropic work by the Ellis Island Medal Award and by the Garden of the Righteous in the Valley of Temples in Agrigento. The Foundation is proud to have been able to help thousands of children in six countries attend school and complete their long-term education. Thank you for joining us in this journey.
