Consistent with our philosophy of building on existing
projects year by year for real long term sustainable development, and
based on the most urgent needs of the village children in terms of their
education, health and safety, we have chosen what the next steps will
be for each of our projects, pending sufficient funding is raised.
Burkina Faso Village Project
Construction of a Secondary School
We plan to build a secondary school that will be easily accessible from
the seven villages of the Nibagdo territory where we are sponsoring 50
children. The villages have primary schools but lack a secondary school.
Greater proximity to a secondary school would significantly increase children’s
enrollment rate.
Lithang School Project
Construction of a third dormitory for 80 children
The school campus in Lithang where the Foundation has already built one
dormitory can be expanded by a third dormitory for 80 more children. At
the moment, there are 160 children living at the campus, but the school
itself has the capacity for up to 240 students.
Chiang Rai Village Project
Construction of a school adjacent to a hill-tribe village
The aim of this project is to allow hill tribe village children to live
with their families while attending school. Their homes are scattered
in remote villages on the slopes of steep and tall mountains. The project
currently covers the daily transportation to school of over 200 children.
Our plan is to build a primary school adjacent to one of the villages
so that at least 100 children would be walking distance and many more
would not have as long of distances to travel.
Cambodia Back to School Project
Improvement of basic structures of the School Center
We are supporting the education of 100 children at this center that were
formerly workers at Phnom Penh’s city dump. At the center they receive
accelerated learning to recover the years of education missed. The center
follows the national curriculum and admits students to the national exams
up to high school level. We plan to improve basic structural features
such as energy supply at the school to ensure continued optimal learning
conditions.
Morocco Back to School Project
Construction of a center for accelerated learning
We plan to build a school in one of the poorest rural regions in the north
of Morocco that can provide accelerated non-formal education to street
children and those who have dropped out of school. The aim is to successfully
reinsert these children in the public school system and curb drop out
rates.
