Lithang School Project Update Feb 2008
In June 2007 Board Member Choon Ky and
Contributor Lino Battan travelled to Lithang (Tibet), China to oversee
the progress of the Lithang School Project.

They visited the dormitory, school and school campus and met with directors
of the school and the teachers. Choon Ky and Lino were impressed by the
cleanliness and order of the dormitory.
The children seemed happy, content and keen to pursue their studies. The
teachers were very enthusiastic about the program and the dedication of
the students. The academic results of the children are very high.

They learn both Tibetan and Chinese language and traditional Tibetan music
and dance.
Currently 160 are attending the school, half of which are supported by
the Pistorio Foundation. Choon Ky and Lino explored the possibility of
constructing a new dormitory for another 80 children with the directors
and the representative of our partner, the Ghe Peh Ling Institute.
We were hoping to draft a project plan and budget for the construction
of the dormitory but this has been delayed because of political unrest
in the region. We hope to pursue this next phase of the project in 2008
once the political situation has stabilized.
